Tzar: The Burden of the Crown is a solid but derivative real-time strategy game. It looks decent, sounds mostly acceptable, and plays fairly well, but it suffers from a few specific problems - most notably its own lack of originality.

Tzar takes place in the Dark Ages, circa 500-1000 A.D., though it also incorporates elements of fantasy, such as magic spells and fire-breathing dragons. The game lets you play as one of three medieval civilizations: Asian, Arabian, and European. During the course of the game, each of these may develop differently, but as in many other real-time strategy games, they must all begin the game in the exact same way: They must all gather resources, build structures, and amass an army to defeat the enemy.

Tzar - Burden of the Crown PC Game

Tzar has a handful of distinctive features. The first and most obvious of these is its four-part late-game technology tree. Though most missions require you to begin by harvesting resources with your peasants to build an economy then move on to create a basic military, you may also choose from four special guild structures: the warriors' guild, the mage tower, the religious center, and the trade center. Each structure may supplement your kingdom with advanced military (in the form of interesting special units or magical powers) or with economic support (in the form of enhanced economic and trade options). Each of these structures is restrictively expensive, so much so that you won't be able to afford to build even one until you've gathered thousands of resources for your cause. As such, you must choose wisely. Though you may find that certain civilizations' options are more powerful than others, for the most part, these guilds - and the civilizations themselves - are fairly well balanced. And in addition to the guild structures, Tzar also includes magical artifacts that increase a unit's abilities or let it learn a magic spell.

Tzar: The Burden of the Crown is a real-time strategy game in which you must recover the rightful leadership of Keanor. A sinister evil has come to the peaceful kingdom of Keanor, a land of beauty, mystery and magic. The Palace lies in ruins as armies of malevolent warriors sweep through the countryside while the once-proud Imperial Guard cowers in fear. The citizens of Keanor flee their homes in terror, praying for the rise of the one true leader who, it was foretold, would lead them against the armies of darkness. Are you the hero they seek? Tzar puts you at the heart of the battle of good versus evil.

Compressed Wings Of War PC Game

It is a historical setting and combat between realistic-looking period aircraft, about the only thing Wings of War has in common with a hardcore flight sim is that they both feature objects suspended in the air. At its default settings, the game's flight model is arcadelike and wildly forgiving (though you can tweak the controls to make them significantly more realistic, resulting in a game that's more difficult and more rewarding). It's almost impossible to stall the planes, you can bounce them off of obstacles with relative impunity, and, for the most part, they turn less like actual aircraft and more like the light cycles in Tron. They're also equipped with some distinctly non-period gear such as radar, shields, and missiles. On top of all this, the landscape is dotted with pickups that impart standard gamey bonuses like health and speed boosts. It's enough to give cranky flight sim fans a massive, collective stroke, but it's a solid foundation for a decent action game.

This simplified flight model would have benefited from mouse control. As it is, however, only keyboard and joystick controls are supported. The mouse can be used, but only to look around in cockpit view.

The game's campaign takes place across 12 huge levels, each one requiring at least an hour to complete. Rather than tell any sort of story, each level is simply a series of 20 or so vaguely connected tasks. Generally, they're doled out linearly, with your next task being assigned immediately upon completion of the current one. However, there are usually five or six optional bonus challenges that can be attempted at various points throughout each level. The variety of mission types is impressive: there's straight dogfighting, bombing runs, escort jobs, one-on-one duels, timed races, and even reconnaissance missions during which you'll snap pictures of ground targets. You'll also occasionally mount the rear gunner's position while a computer-controlled pilot flies the plane.

The tasks within a level are strung together with virtually no downtime between them, and except for the occasional timed or escort mission, you're generally free to take as long as you like to complete them. This gives you time to break off from the main fighting and scour the countryside looking for power-ups, which are either hidden inside destroyable objects, such as buildings and zeppelins, or placed inside open-ended hangars through which you need to fly. Not every enemy plane is part of a mission goal, either, and you'll often try to down a few in direct combat simply to keep them from harassing you during the mission. This open-ended structure leads to some pretty thrilling moments of risk versus reward as you fly defensively with a few planes on your tail, searching for a health or shield power-up that'll give you a better chance of finishing a particular task.

Once you've finished the campaign, there's also an instant action mode in which you can set up deathmatch or team deathmatch games with up to 29 other planes across a variety of terrain types, seasons, and times of day.

This true to life rallying requires tactics, intelligence and perseverance as well as speed, aggression and risk taking. Beginning at the Forest Experience Rally School in North Wales, Richard and co-driver Robert Reid will tutor each player in the tactics, preparation and skills required for rally driving, before the player joins a team and embarks on his career as a rally driver. There are additional game modes including a Richard Burns Challenge, where players get the chance to go head to head with Richard Burns and a 4-player 'hot-seat' multi-player gaming.
